Ragnarok
is a time and place where the Sun and the Moon no longer shine.
There was darkness, for they were both devoured…
Be
forewarned all those who seek this cache. Only the agile,
surefooted, and brave should attempt this quest. If you suffer from
fear of the dark or tend to shudder at the things that scurry
amongst the rocks, this cache is not for you. You should not
adventure alone nor should you enter the Lair or Ragnarok without a
proper torch. Your journey begins at the area known as Nottawasaga
Valley Conservation Authority where parking is available on 15/16
Sideroad (N44,20.571 and W080,12'659). A map located there may
assist you as you follow the Old Road and continue on to the
Lookout.
It
is from here that your journey truly begins. Choose your path
wisely as you proceed to the first leg of your quest. The worn
trail of those who attempted this expedition before you can still
be seen and will guide you into the crags below. When you arrive at
your destination use a vigilant eye as you search for the
creature’s lair. Hopefully you can recall what the entrance looks
like or better yet, have brought an image to assist you. When you
have discovered the Lair you will need to enter the cavern to
search for the creature. This entrance is one of many that can
access the Lair. Take caution as you lower yourself into the Lair
for now you are at the mercy of the creature. It resides close by,
near the cavern floor.
Once
you defeat the creature, you will be rewarded with directions to
Ragnarok, a deep chamber hidden below the earth. Return to the main
trail on the escarpment above to continue your journey. As you
venture on, be aware that the creature you have just battled is an
indication of what inhabits within. It is amongst them you will
find the treasure.
Once
you discover Ragnarok, much thought will be needed to plan your
entry. Although foreboding, descent can be made by carefully
choosing your footholds. If you listen carefully, you may still
hear the echoes of three screaming children who once came face to
face with the horrors within. Once you feel the earth beneath your
feet, you will need to progress into the cavern and cross the chasm
by way of the stone bridge. Within the towering wall that stands
before you, the treasure will be found. The fortunes of Ragnarok
wait within a chest made of steel that is approx 12” long, 4” wide
and 6” deep.
May
the Gods favour you in your quest. Should you be successful, may
you live long days rejoicing in the tales of Geocaching
past.
