Geocache Description:

A fairly straightforward puzzle cache that requires some careful, precise calculations (assuming perfect conditions), but no specialist knowledge. As the puzzles get easier with practice, the hides get a little more tricky. And, of course, the cache is not at the published location (which is that of a reasonably nearby cricket pitch).

I thought I'd share a final geocaching story I'd heard locally. Two cousins were each called Hans. In reference to their size they were distinguished by being called Big Hans and Little Hans. These nicknames were given to them by their mutual grandad, to whom they were both very attached.

Little Hans could walk only slowly on his short legs, whilst Big Hans was an established sprinter who could run 12-times as fast as Little Hans's slow crawl. They were inseparable and, when they took up geocaching, they naturally always did it together. One day they had a fierce argument about the location of a cache. They agreed on the Northing (N 51 12.868) but could not agree on the Westing.

On hearing their row, their grandma took them aside. She told them that their grandad was deeply displeased to hear them squabble. She scolded them: "I want you to resolve your dispute as quickly as possible as this will cheer up grandad no end." Then, she positioned them precisely and, believing that it was exactly one thirty in the afternoon, she told them to get moving as fast as they could. However, if she had checked with grandad, she would have realised that she started them off 7.666 seconds earlier than she intended. Communicating with each other while on the move, the two cousins agreed upon the Westing before they met up again. By the time it had taken them to agree the Westing, grandad had a perfectly contented look on his face once more!

Go to the point indicated by the solution to the puzzle and you will find the cache box at the base of a tree.
