Geocache Description:

Exposed hill top (535 metres)

Trum Gelli is the Westmost top of the ridge of hills known as the Tarrens, running in a southwesterly direction from the highest at Tarren y Gesail (667 metres) through Tarrenhendre (634 mtr) where sits forcesofnature's cache of that name (GC10RC4), and my own Tarren Memorial (GC1E7E) on Tarren Cwm-ffernol (540 mtr) making a glorious ridge walk especially on a good day when all the hills around can be seen but especially Cadair Idris. It is marked by two quite separate cairns some 130 metres apart.
If you are walking the ridge from the North East there are a number of access routes, but if your target is just Trum Gelli and perhaps Tarren Memorial then a good route is from the Happy Valley road at Pant-yr-on and along the old track to Rhyd-yr-Onen station on the Tal y Llyn Railway with a convenient finger post indicates where to start the ascent to the ridge. My favourite route is to get myself dropped off above Pennal near Esgair-Isaf and ascending over Esgair Uchaf to Tarrenhendre and along the ridge, descending to the finger post mentioned above and thence to Pant-yr-on where if I am lucky my wife will be waiting - between 8 and 9 miles of excellent walking.
As you will be close to 2000 ft above sea level much of the time the usual hill walking precautions should be taken though generally there are no hazards beyond a rocky track (which can be very wet) and some peat hags East of Trum Gelli.
