Short climb after a moderate hike (or maybe an easy drive).
This little oak tree has a great view of the Piru Creek valley/canyon from his little knoll.
This cache, along with a few others hidden today, are the first caches in the Cobblestone Mountain quadrangle, and are primarily aimed at those people shooting for the Ventura County Quad Challenge. Of course, ANYONE is welcome to come find these.
The closest trail-head to this cache is in the Lake Piru recreation area, which is a fee area. There is a locked gate, with plenty of parking nearby, at N34 29.263 W118 45.662. I have heard that this gate is open certain times of the year, so it may be possible to drive to this cache, but I have never seen it open. It is about 2.75 miles by paved road from the gate to this cache.
Enjoy, but use caution when stepping or reaching where you cannot see!
