Another set along the Tail Race Canal and test you physically. No acrobatics on this one, though--much easier.

A simple stroll in a park.

...only there isn't any park and very little strolling.

Set along the Tail Race Canal you will be following a flood control levy to the south from the only real available parking. Parking is the same as for SSW#1 at or near N33° 12.718 W079° 58.398 which is at Rembert C. Dennis Boat Landing.

The few areas where there is a trail it is from the fishermen at the beginning of the hike or animal trails later on. You will be picking your way through, over, or under obstacles. Once you reach a major obstacle the going gets even harder--I'd say few humans venture further with any regularity.

Gear is minimal on this hunt compared to SSW#1.
  • Gloves
  • Sturdy shoes
  • Some kind of stick to ward away creepy-crawlies
  • DEET
  • Snacks and water are the only advised extras.

It took us a little over 4 hours to hike in, find a decent spot, get good coords, and hike out. The distance from parking to the cache is only about 1.2 miles, so that should tell you about how rough this hike is.

Note: Not a cache for young children.

Standard disclaimers apply. You are out in the wild and woolly. Watch for snakes, especially when stepping over logs. Watch for spiders. Protect yourself against biting insects.

...oh, have fun!!!
