Few people know that Jersey is where the world’s first roller coaster was developed. In a top secret location engineers worked day and night, and built a roller coaster. Sadly the hadn't invented brakes so the first prototype ended up in the sea, you can sometimes see it at low tide.
In more recent years the tracks have been replaced and an old tunnel that links to Jersey to Guernsey has been re opened and you can travel across to Guernsey in about 20 minutes. it's very bumpy as you travel in what is essentially a roller coaster train. If you look at the bottom of the tracks the closed doors are the tunnel entrance. The public can use the tunnel on April 1st only. Not sure why ;-)
On a serious note the area is quite exposed and the ground a little loose - wear good shoes.
