Berea, KY is located in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains. It is home to Berea College and is widely recognized as the "Arts and Crafts Capital" of Kentucky. The Berea Chamber of Commerce is proud to sponsor the 1st Annual Berea Geocaching Weekend. Our goal is to enable our local geocaching enthusiasts to be able to mingle and engage in an event that we hope will attract geocachers from all across the country, enabling them to enjoy the small town feel of Berea, while encouraging our town as a geotourism destination. Our town is rich in history, culture, and diversity. There are permanent geocaches available in growing numbers in and around the area, so the event should appeal to a variety of interests. This event will include a variety of temporary caches which are incorporated into a game experience designed especially for this event. Come out and enjoy some of the most beautiful and majestic hiking trails in Madison County, Kentucky (located right here in Berea). Visit the breathtaking views of Berea from atop what the locals refer to as the "Pinnacles" which are overview peaks of the Appalachian foothills, by hiking the Indian Fort Trails (Google this trail name and find hiking maps online) BUT, don't forget your geocaching "tools" (example: tweezers).
A variety of accomodations and campgrounds are nearby. Berea is located south of Lexington, KY along I-75. The meeting site and accomodations are within minutes of each other and close to the interstate.

Friday October 17th
7pm, Intro to Geocaching and a brief educational program for muggles and beginners
8pm, Meet & Greet for Geocachers (serving free chili supper, dessert, and drink; courtesy of a Chamber member)
Saturday October 18th
8am-9am, Event Check-in (those who pre-registered can pick-up their FREE event t-shirts, car tags, and goody bags)
9am, Launch off - Let the Geocaching Begin! (Event t-shirts will be available for purchase at $10 each throughout the day, or until the supply is depleted, on a first come, first served basis)
6:00pm, Reviewer Panel
7:30pm, Awards Program (FTF, Grand Prize, and Door Prizes), and Closing Appreciation
*Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be on your own
