Monet meistä ovat ihailleet Kanavuoren rinnettä ajaessaan 4-tietä Vaajakosken eteläpuolella, uskon kuitenkin että monikaan ei ole vaivautunut pysähtymään tai jaloittelemaan täällä. Nyt siihen on hyvä tilaisuus ja jopa motiivi.
En uskalla suositella tätä kätköä talvella tai edes sateella, kukin hakee tietysti silloin kun parhaaksi näkee.
Lumi voi peittää purkin muttei kovin paksusti !!
Many of us have admired the slope of Kanavuori when driving past on road E4 south from Vaajakoski, however I think that very few have stopped or stretched his legs here. Now you have a goog change, and a motive too.
I do not recommed to search this cache on wintertime or in rain, you ofcourse decide by yourself.
Snow may cover the cache but it should not be very deep !!
Kanavuori ja Koskenvuori ovat Pohjois-Päijänteen vuorimaisemille tyypillisiä korkeita, kallioisia, maisemaa hallitsevia vuoria. Alue muodostaa geologisesti, maisemallisesti ja lajistollisesti arvokkaan ja luontotyypeiltään edustavan kokonaisuuden. Vesistöjen kirjomassa maisemassa sijaitseva kallioselännejakso on tunnettu maamerkki vesillä liikkujien ohella etelästä maanteitse Vaajakoskelle saapuville. Kanavuoren länsilaidan lähes kilometrin pituinen kallioseinämä on parhaimmillaan 50 m korkea. Jyrkänteiden alla on louhikkoista kallionaluslehtoa. Puustoltaan luonnontilaisimmat ja iäkkäimmät metsät tavataan Kanavuoren länsirinteeltä ja Koskenvuoren eteläosasta, muualla on tavanomaisempia, enimmäkseen mäntyvaltaisia metsiä Leppäveteen rajoittuvalla niemellä sijaitsevalla Koskenvuorella on silokalliopaljastumia, siirtolohkareita ja muinaisranta länsirinteessä. Kasviston arvokkaimman osan muodostavat Kanavuoren uhanalaiset ja harvinaiset kalliokasvit (putkilokasvi-, sammal- ja jäkälälajeja), joista mainittakoon kirkiruoho ja mäkitervakko. Myös alueen hyönteislajisto on mielenkiintoinen. Koskenvuoren Natura-alueen sisällä sijaitsee yksityismaan luonnonsuojelualueena jo rauhoitettu Koskenvuoren luonnonsuojelualue.
Kanavuorelta avautuvia maisemia voi ihailla Kanavuoren luontopolulla .Vuonna 1993 perustettu Kanavuoren luontopolku sijaitsee Vaajakosken itäpuolella, Naissaaren kupeessa ja tutustuu tyypillistä Pohjois-Päijänteen vuorimaisemaa edustavaan Kanavuoreen. Pituudeltaan noin 3,4 kilometrin polku nousee lähes 200 metrin korkeuteen kiertäen huipulla lenkin ja tarjoten hienot näkymät Päijänteelle ja Leppävedelle. Polun lähtötaulu löytyy Saltunlahdesta, nelostieltä Etu-Kanavuoren tielle käännyttäessä oikealta puolelta. Auton voi jättää Naissaaren tai uimarannan parkkipaikalle ja kävellä kävelytietä lähtöpisteeseen. Polun 14 rastikohdetta antavat yleistietoa suomalaisesta luonnosta sekä ihmisen ja luonnon vuorovaikutuksesta ja esittelevät samalla Kanavuorta ja sieltä avautuvia maisemia.
Maasto on suurelta osalta kuivaa ja kallioista ja sellaisena kulutukselle altista, mikä osaltaan perustelee retkeilyn ohjaamista valmiita polkuja noudattelevalle reitille. Aikaa polun kiertämiseen kuluu noin 2-3 tuntia. Kumisaappaat ovat sopivimmat jalkineet polulle, joskin kuivalla säällä reitin voi kiertää lenkkijalkineissa. Maasto ja reitti ovat vaativia, joten polku ei sovellu heikkokuntoisille eikä missään tapauksessa liikuntarajoitteisille.
Tulenteko alueella on kielletty, eikä mäen laella olevaan torniin saa kiivetä.
Kanavuori and Koskenvuori are high, rocky, landscape dominating mountains, typical for north Päijänne area. In geological, scenery and species view, the area forms a valuable and well nature types representing unity.The rock ridge located in this landscape embroided by lakes, is well known by sailors and those who drive from south to Vaajakoski. The western cliff of Kanavuori is almost one kilometer long and the highest cliffis 50 meters high. Under the cliffs there is rocky grove.
The most natural and oldest trees can be found on the west slope of Kanavuori and southern part of Koskenvuori, elsewhere on the area the trees are usual, dominated by pines. Smooth rocks, large boulders and an ancient lake shore can be found on Koskenvuori which is located on a cape to lake Leppävesi.
The most valuable part of vegetation is formed by the endangered and unusual species of plants (vascular plants, moss and lichen species). Also the variety of insects living on the area is interesting. Inside the Koskenvuori Natura region, there is a protected private Koskenvuori nature reserve.
The views on top of Kanavuori can be obtained by walking the Kanavuori nature trail. On the eastern side of Vaajakoski, beside Naissaari the 1993 founded trail takes you to a 3,4 km walk via northern lake Päijänne landscape. The trail goes up to almost 200 meters making a loop on the top and offering great views over lakes Leppävesi and Päijänne. The starting point and an information post can be found in Saltunlahti, close to the main road E4. Car can be parked in the Naissaari parking lot, it is a short walk to the nature trail starting point.
There are 14 information posts (rasti 1 to 14 in finnish) along the route which give common info about the Finnish nature and the interaction between man and nature, and also show Kanavuori and the views to the reader. Unfortunately the posts are in finnish only !!
The terrain is mostly dry and rocky and susceptiple for wear, that is why you are guided to use the trail. It will take 2-3 hours to walk the trail. Rubber boots are recommended, but if the weather is dry, hiking shoes will be OK.
Terrain and the trail is demanding and is only recommended to those who are in normal physical condition, not to physically disabled.
It is forbidden to make fire, and to climb the tower on top of the hill is also forbidden.
Yllä olevat koordinaatit EIVÄT suinkaan osoita kätkön paikkaa vaan sopivan pysäköintipaikan autollesi. Löytääksesi kätkön joudut tekemään hiukan jakatyötä. Luontopolulla on 14 opastetaulua, kahdeksan opastetaulun pylväästä (mitkä 8 pylvästä ?? Sen joudut itse selvittämään !!) löytyy numero jotka tarvitset kaikki ennenkuin kätkön koordinaatit ovat pienen päättelytehtävän jälkeen hallussasi. Voit toki kiertää reitin useampaankin kertaan jotta numerot löytyvät.Kätkön koordinaatit ovat N62 1A, BCD ; E025 5E, FGH johon voit sijoittaa helposti löytämäsi numerotseuraavien sääntöjen mukaisesti:
C = F = G ; A = B ; H > D > E

Uimaranta on lähellä jos sattuu tuntumaan siltä löytämisen riemussa !!
The coordinates abowe are NOT pointing to the cache hide, only to a possible parking lot for your car. To find the cache you need to do some footwork.There are 14 information posts along the nature trail, in eight poles of the info posts you can find a single number (which 8 of 14 info posts ?? That is what you need to find out). You will need all eight numbers before you can determine the coordinates of the cache. You can go around the trail more than once if needed.
The final coordinates are N62 1A, BCD ; E025 5E, FGH
into where you can insert the numbers you have found using the following guidelines:
C = F = G ; A = B ; H > D > E
HUOM !!! Kätkö löytyy vain muutaman metrin päästä Luontopolulta, joten säästä luontoa ja liiku polulla !!
NOTE !!! The cache is located only a few meters from the trail, pls save the nature, stay on the trail !!
