U. S. Grant was the eighteenth President of the United States after serving as the commander of the Union forces during the Civil War. After one of his early military victories, the newspapers joked that the first two initials in his name stood for “Unconditional Surrender.”
One of my favorite Grant stories comes from Abraham Lincoln. When someone complained to the President about General Grant’s drinking, Lincoln responded “"Find out what whiskey he drinks and send all of my generals a case, if it will get the same results.”
