This geocache was originally created by Belleterre, in response to her interaction with two other geocachers, i.e. Fledermaus and Real Deal.
It is now owned and maintained by MNERV. |

BELLETERE: "This cache is dedicated to Fledermaus and Real Deal, who kicked me out of the caching rut I was in.
"My first 67 finds were mostly on my own with occasional help from hubby, Dad, Mom, son or daughter. I would have kept on happily caching in isolation, but no, Fledermaus wouldn't have that. He was determined to find out who the mystery cacher was who kept hitting up all of his caches, especially Toandos Lockbox. He wasn't even fazed when I told him I'd have to do an FBI background check and get a list of all his speeding tickets. I finally caved in and agreed to go caching with him and his buddy, Real Deal. IT WAS A BLAST! We hit up 12 caches (10 finds) in a 12 hour, 150 mile (plus ferry ride caching spree. Here's to future joint endeavors."
This cache is within a few feet of a trail, so no hill-climbing or significant bushwhacking are required. This is a 3.6 mile round trip easy hike or a nice ride on a mountain bike. Park at N47° 33.290' @ W122° 49.602'. Walk up the blocked gravel road to N47° 33.581' @ W122° 47.657' and turn right. If the creek is high, you may need to use rocks or a fallen tree or log to cross it.
There are a couple of alternate routes back to your starting point. If you are standing with your back towards the Bat Cave, use Route #1 (the Left trail) the same distance back to you car, but goes up the hillside little a ways. Or, you may use Route #2 (the Right trail) about one half mile longer, along some beaver ponds. Go to the gravel road and turn left, go to the next intersection and turn left back to your car. |
FLEDERMAUS: "I am proud to have had this cache dedicated to my best friend (Jerrold Deal "Real Deal") and me. However, I am saddened by the fact that Belleterre has decided to reduce or eliminate her activities in geocaching."
"She allowed me to adopt this cache in order to keep it alive and well for other geocachers to enjoy. It may be quite a challenge to many, since I've actually hunted for it it on foot. If you bring a bicycle, it will be put it to good use. Don't forget to bring a beverage or two and some munchies."
"I am further saddened by the fact that "Real Deal", aka Jerald Deal, suffered a fatal heart attack on October 29th, 2004 at the young age of 41 years."
"If you would like to hunt for the one cache that was very special to him, please take the time to look for "Mission: Afterburner" (GCH3GR), located within the N.A.D. Soroptimist Park on the Westside of Bremerton, WA."
"He will now be searching for new treasures of which we geocachers can only dream. His Companion for several years and two children will be well cared for by family, friends and many others too numerous to count." |
