The state park is level with no admission charge.
This is one of a string of L&C geocaches along the Missouri River from the southern to the northern borders of Iowa and Nebraska. The ammo can tells some history of the area in the lid. This cache was placed with permission of the park rangers who also helped on the cache placement and lid contents.
This is the first Lewis and Clark state park in the nation. It has life size replicas of the keelboat, red pirogue, and white pirogue resembling the ones used by Lewis and Clark on their way up the Missouri River. If you are there on the weekend during the season, there is a chance you may get a ride. There is a Lewis and Clark festival in June with re-enactors and lots of things to see and do. A very old cottonwood tree has its roots bare leaving a fun place for children to enjoy the little room underneath. L&C wrote in their journals about a very large old cottonwood tree right across from their campsite. The original L&C campsite area has a sign across Blue Lake on the first road to the left after leaving the state park going east.
Update 9-5-2012: Original cache owner, The Three Amigos, can no longer care for the cache. Ownership was transferred to GeoJudt to keep it going for years to come.
