PLEASE NOTE: Neither stage of this cache is in
the cemetery. There is access to the trail from public
property.
Stage one is near the Eagle's Nest.
At the posted co-ordinates, you will find a number stenciled on the
asphalt trail. Go stand on that number and look north. If you are
on the correct spot, you will see a small green sign across the
trail with a Station number on it. It looks like the small green
sign that had station number 110 on it has been removed. Hopefully
the necessary information may be found in this statement at some
point.
Take the first digit of the number you are standing on and add it
to the latitude to get your new north co-ordinate.
Take the number from the Station sign and add it to 697 to get the
final part of your new west co-ordinate.
Before you go on to stage two, take 15 to 20
steps west and look north toward the pine trees about 150 yards
away. Near the top of the pine tree on the right you can see the
Eagle's Nest.
With any luck you will get to see one or both of the Eagles who
make their home there.
Continue on to the second and final stage of the cache.
Cache contains log and a small pen, but you may want to bring your
own writing instrument.
Be careful and have fun.
At the time of posting, we witnessed one of the Eagles carrying
food to the nest. We're hoping to see an Eaglet or two, in the near
future.
Update on 2-14-2009 - The eaglets from
last year's brood have moved on, but there is at least one new
eaglet for this year.
Update on 2-15-2009 - Stopped by with the
binoculars, and saw two eaglets in the nest being fed. Way cool.
This year's nest appears to be better made than last year's.
If you get the chance, this is worth the time to stop by and check
it out. You can enter the cemetery from 1st Ave. So., and drive
along the road to the south end and get quite close to the
nest.
CONGRATULATIONS!
