This cache is near Brackettville close to a National Weather Service
WSR-88D Doppler radar. This is the Del Rio installation (DFX) that
covers much of southwest Texas. If you are coming from Uvalde, you'll
notice volcanic hills along the way which date from Cretaceous time
(the end of the dinosaurs); these left lots of igneous rocks. The area
was heavily mined many years ago for asphalt, which is created when oil
seeps upward into limestone, and this natural asphalt forms the
substance of road FM 1022 nearby. The cache is hidden on a
public right-of-way near the radar and you won't have to trespass.
Be careful as the cache is placed in an area of thorny brush which may hide
scorpions or snakes. The radar, though continuously operational, is
not a health hazard to cache visitors.
PLEASE DO NOT POST ABOUT ANY OBJECT WAITING TO BE FOUND IN
THE CACHE, as this spoils the surprise for others. You may
of course post about what you've taken and kept!
Cache is a small square Rubbermaid container.
