K mostu se vaze i nasledujici povest:
Svec Hanousek byl znam po celem okoli
svym umenim. Nebylo divu, ze mel stale dosti prace. Nekdy vsak
lateril na sve remeslo, zvlaste kdyz bylo pri sobote a mel nejakou
dodelavku. Radeji by si sel sednouti ke sklenicce do hospody.
Jednoho dne byl Hanousek mrzutejsi nez jindy. Mel nesti nove boty
do Svateho Pole, kam se mu nechtelo jiti. Ale co naplat! Vzal na
sebe stary kabat, klobouk narazil hluboko do cela a vysel. Kdyz
vchazel do statku jiz se stmivalo. Pantata Novotny ho jiz vyhlizel.
nedal zdrzovati a hajdy domu. Venku panovala jiz neproniknutelna
tma. "Vezmu to pekne lesem a budu doma drive, nez jsem dosel sem."
S takovymi myslenkami vykrocil. Ale, co to? Kudy to vlastne jde? Uz
mel byti davno z lesa venku. Nohy ho bolely a kazdou chvili
klopytl, az se mu penize rozkutalely. "Cert aby to me remeslo vzal!
Co clovek z neho ma?" Co tak narika, pozna, ze nekdo ho uchopi za
ruku a tahne ho z mista. Ve chvilce octli se oba pred nejakou
roklinou. Tam neznamy vytrhl ze zeme silny strom, polozil jej pres
roklinu a prevedl udiveneho sevcika na druhou stranu. Pokracovali v
ceste. Az u male jeskynky se znovu zastavili. Tam take prvne se
pruvodce ozval: "Volal jsi mne, prisel jsem. zachranil jsem nejen
tebe, ale i tve ztracene penize. Zde jsou". Podal mu plny mesec
penez. "A tve remeslo prevezmu take, jak jsi chtel. Nemusis niceho
delati a pokazde budes miti vcas dilo hotovo". Za to ode dneska za
rok prijdes sem do teto jeskyne, kde mi podepises list, kterym mi
upises svoji dusi. Jak to dorekl, zmizel, jen zapach siry siril se
jeskyni ... Ted poznal Hanousek, s kym mluvil. Co to jen udelal?
Ale rok? Rok je dlouha doba ...

The massive bridge was built in 1864 from slag
that was processed in Stara Hut – a nearby village. Despite its
mightiness it only makes part of an unimportant path leading to a
lookout. The bridge is 36m long, 7.1m high, the range of the span
is 7.5m and it is 6m wide.
There is a legend connected with this
bridge:
Cobbler Hanousek was well known in the
neighbourhood for his art and skills and therefore it was no
surprise that he always had enough work. However, he sometimes
sweared at his work; especially on Saturdays when he had some
backlogs and he would have preferred to go to the pub for a pint.
One day, Hanousek was grumpier than usual since he had to carry
some shoes to Svate Pole and he did not feel like that.
Nevertheless, he put his clothes on and went. His client was
eagerly awaiting him. The shoes fitted like a glove. Not only was
the cobbler paid what he wanted but also the client added some
shots of alcohol for “warming up.” Hanousek had a few and decided
that it was high time to go home. Darkness descended and Hanousek
decided to cut his journey short by going through the woods. But
where was he going? He should have been out of the woods already!
He kept stumbling and so his money fell out of his pockets. He
thought to himself, “the devil take my trade, what is it good
for?!” when he felt someone caught his hand and dragged him away.
In a while they were standing at a gorge. The stranger pulled a
massive tree out of the ground and laid it over the gorge and
guided the cobbler across. They kept walking to a little cave where
they stopped and the stranger started to speak. “You called me, I
came. Not only did I save you, but I also saved your money. Here
you are. And I will take over your trade, too – just as you wished.
You will not have to do anything and you will always have your work
done in time. However, in one year’s time you will come to this
cave and sign me a sheet by which you will sign your soul away to
me.” As he finished the story he disappeared leaving only a smell
of brimstone behind him. Now Hanousek understood what he has done
but he thought to himself that a year is a long
time...
Do you fancy knowing how this story ends?
Do you want to know what happened to Hanousek and why the bridge is
called “the devil’s bridge“? There is nothing easier but to come to
Dobris park and find this cache! Right in the cache (in the
logbook) you will find the end of the legend.
