Geocache Description:

Just north of Downtown St. Louis.

I am interested in any information anyone can give me about this location. For instance: Why this rock is here, What was on the plaque that is now missing and who does the image on the existing plaque represent?Information provided by DidG Guy on 4-15-04:The boulder marks the spot where one of many Native American mounds once stood, which were all later obliterated. Some of them were hauled away to for fill to construct railroad embankments and other mundane uses.More information may be had at:
(visit link) "In the 1820s, the city expanded into this area, shortly afterward, all the mounds were gone. Many were removed for landfill. A boulder on North Broadway marks the spot where the largest of these once rose. Its dirt was carted away by the wagon load in 1869."
