Let me say some words about the history of
this cache:
During The Plank Team's 2003 journey to Croatia we 'decided' that
Istria's midlands deserve a cache.
But how to cope with the "No Holiday Caches Verdict"? Very simple,
a virtual one has to be placed.
But the bill was made without the innkeeper, as we say in Austria.
No chance of approval. So what to do?
The solution: search for Istrian Geocachers and ask them for the
big favour to place a micro.
Thought, searched, found, asked - 3 weeks later the micro was
placed and some pictures taken.

Anläßlich des 2003er Kroatien-Urlaubs des The Plank Teams wurde
"beschlossen", daß das kroatische
Binnenland einen Cache verdient. Aber wie mit dem Keine
Urlaubs-Caches Urteil umgehen? Ganz einfach,
wir machen einen virtuellen. Allerdings wurde die Rechnung ohne dem
Wirt gemacht. Keine Chance auf
Zulassung. Was also tun? Die Lösung:
Istrische Geocacher ausfindig machen und sie um den großen Gefallen
bitten, einen Micro
zu hinterlegen. Gedacht, gesucht, gefunden, gefragt - 3 Wochen
später ist der Micro hinterlegt und sogar noch
einige Photos zur Verfügung gestellt.

Stage #1 /
Etappe Nr. 1
Start your journey at the lower defined
village.
The name of the village:
- consists of 5 distinct letters
- contains the two first vowels of the alphabet (inverse order)
- consonants and vowels alternate
- one of the consonants is the "bigger one" of the two consonants
in the
middle of the alphabet
- one consonant is located at the alphabets beginning
- one sonsonant is located exactly in between the alphabets 4th and
5th vowel
Now that you found the village's name, try to visit a nearby
chapel. Without any
preparation you certainly will fail. To be prepared you need a
number (= H).
Should you find two of them use the higher one. Visit now the
number and then the
nearby chapel. Arrived there accompanied, search
Saint Michael. How many humans are indirectly in his left hand (=
M)?
BTW: The number's inhabitants are certainly grateful for a small
allowance.

- ein Mitlaut steht am Beginn des Alphabets
- ein Mitlaut steht genau zwischen 4. und 5. Selbstlaut des

Jetzt da Sie den Ortsnamen gefunden haben, versuchen Sie eine
naheliegende Kapelle zu besuchen. Unvorbereitet werden Sie
an
dieser Aufgabe scheitern. Zur Vorbereitung benötigen Sie eine
Nummer.
Sollten Sie zwei davon finden, nehmen Sie die höhere, nennen Sie
diese H
und besuchen Sie nun zuerst die Nummer und in weiterer Folge die
naheliegende
Kapelle.
Dort in Begleitung angekommen, suchen Sie nun St. Michael.
Wieviele Menschen hält er indirekt in seine linken Hand (= M)?
Noch etwas: Die Bewohner der Nummer freuen sich sicher über eine
kleine
Aufwandsentschädigung.
Stage #2 /
Etappe Nr. 2
Now that you visited the chapel move to a very
central istrian town.
Take the train at Pula and deboard at a spot characterised by an
important change
of the train's course from roughly N to NE. Arrived there, find
your way to the castle.
Near the castle you will find a modern "KARIJATIDA". Look out for a
date on the
information board. What is the indicated year (= K)?
Nach dem Kirchenbesuch geht es nun zu einer
sehr zentral gelegenen
istrischen Stadt. Zu diesem Zweck steigen Sie in Pula in den Zug.
Am Ort eines
großen Richtungswechsels von N nach NO steigen Sie aus und machen
sich
auf den Weg zur Burg. Sehr nahe der Burg finden Sie eine moderne
"KARIJATIDA".
Nennen Sie die daneben stehende Jahreszahl K.
Stage #3 /
Etappe Nr. 3
At stage #2 you stood near the castle. Now
approach the castle. Directly on the
castle you will find two oxen. Are they in the left (O = M +1) or
in the
right (O = M + 2) escutcheon?
In Etappe Nr. 2 waren Sie sehr nahe der Burg.
Nunmehr nähern Sie sich weiter
der Burg. Direkt an der Burg befinden sich 2 Ochsen. Befinden sie
sich im
linken Wappenschild (O = M + 1) oder im rechten (O = M + 2)?
Stage #4 /
Etappe Nr. 4
The ethnological museum is worth a visit. But
before doing it search
again an animal. This time look out for a goose. Is the goose left
(G = O + 1) or
right (G = O + 2) above the entrance door?
Ein Besuch im Volkskundemuseum lohnt sich.
Davor allerdings suchen Sie
nochmals ein Tier. Diesmal jedoch eine Gans. Befindet sie sich
links (G = O +1)
oder rechts (G = O + 2) oberhalb der Eingangstür?
Stage #5 /
Etappe Nr. 5
At the end of your journey be conscious of
Europe's history.
Move from the castle to the municipal park. Amidst many
metal busts you
will find a pugnacious half-relief. Count the letters of the
inscription's 4th word (= D).
Just another question: the river near the castle is called "Fojba",
meaning "gorge".
Near Triest there are "Foibe" too. They are related to the "40 days
of terror" in
the year .... (= T).
Zum Schluß noch etwas Geschichtsbewußtsein.
Gehen Sie von der
Burg zum Stadtpark. Dort werden Sie inmitten vieler Büsten
ein
kämpferisches Halbrelief finden. Wieviele Buchstaben hat das vierte
Wort
der Inschrift (= D)?
Und noch eine Frage: Der Fluß bei der Burg heißt "Fojba", was
soviel wie "Schlucht"
bedeutet. Auch bei Triest gibt es "Foibe" die im Zusammenhang mit
den "40 Tagen
des Terrors" stehen. In welchem Jahr fand dieser statt (= T)?
