Located in Kathryn Gorman Ponds Park, named after Montebello's first mayor. Park was dedicated in 2011 and welcomes pedestrians, bicycles and leashed dogs. Fishing permitted with a NYS license. BYOP
The remaining ruins of the old Frank Smith blacksmith shop are here. He built it there away from town so the noise would not bother neighbors and the smoke would drift into the swamp, killing mosquitoes. Relic hunters dug up a lot of horseshoes there in the 1970's. Smith joined the army during the Civil War and never came home. It's possible he was captured and died at Andersonville.
