Paddling
Roesiger
Note: You
can not get to this cache from dry land!
Lake Roesiger is one of the more interesting lakes we've visited.
It is fairly heavily populated with houses, has a lot of
water-line boat houses and party decks, has a number of power
boats, but is still inviting to paddlers. Why? Well,
they restrict power boats to certain times of the year, certain
times of the day, and very specific parts of the lake(s). As a
result, you can get a nice paddle without always being inundated
with power boats.
In a desire to get folks to paddle the entire lake as well as to
cloak the location of the final in a cloud of mystery, we've made
this a simple 3-stage "multi" where you paddle around the lake
collecting two very easy clues and doing just a bit of math to get
the co-ords of the final. The entire paddle will be about 3
miles - about 1.5 miles from the launch to Stage 1, and about the
same distance back.
At Stage 1 you need to count the number of boards that make up the
surface of the floating platform. Just count the ones on top,
not the railings. Let that number be AB.
At State 2 you need to get the number off the "district" boathouse.
Let that be CD.
The Final is located at:
47
59.(A-C)(B-D-3)[(AB-CD)+1]
121
55.A(D+1)(B-D)
Cache: There isn't a
lot of free land, so the cache is a camo'd bison. It is
relatively well hidden, and attached to the locale with fishing
line, so please be careful to place it back well and hidden and not
to break the fishing line so we don't loose it in high
water.
Portage: Minimal to
none. You can launch at the
waterline.
Note: This ramp, like
others (including Margaret, Beaver, Spring, and Shadow) requires a
Vehicle Use Permit when the ramp is open. You can buy them where
fishing licenses are sold or
online.
