Geocache Description:

This is the second in a series of caches involving something of a walk from parking. This series is named for military retreats, withdrawals and mass movements of people. The cache name refers to the French second place finish in the Winter Olympics of 1812. By 1812, Napoleon Bonaparte had gotten a little too big for his britches and decided to invade Russia. He brought an army of 670,000, one third French, 90,000 Poles and the rest Germans. Unfortunately, he went to Moscow, where Tsar Alexander I was not at home. Tsar Alexander lived in St. Petersburg, and so felt able to ignore the multinational tourist group, and let nature and the cossacks usher them out. This they did, and only a few thousand lived to eventually retreat all the way back to Paris. You should not have so grueling an ordeal, even in winter. When the weather is nice, visit the attractive exhibits set up by the talented park staff. The cache is an 11 oz. food storage container with some trinkets and a special prize for FTF. Please rehide as found.
