This cache is near the village of Benito Juarez, a part of the Pueblos Mancomunados, a group of villages that has built a comprehensive trail system on their common lands.
El escondite esta cerca de Benito Juarez, uno de los Pueblos Mancomunados, un grupo de pueblos que han hecho un sistema de senderos sobre su tierra colectiva.
It's a fairly steep half-hour long hike through alpine meadows and cloud forest from Benito Juarez to the viewpoint. Another lovely way to reach the cache is to hike from Cuajimiloyas, which takes about 2-3 hours each way through varied terrain.

This cache can be found as a day-trip from Oaxaca, but if you rely on busses to get around check the schedule carefully (especially pay attention to the fact that these villages do not use daylight savings time, but Oaxaca does). There are five daily busses to Cuajimoloyas from
the second-class bus station in Oaxaca. There is very limited bus service to Benito Juarez (three busses per week).
Puedes encontrar el escondite saliendo de Oaxaca y regresar el mismo día. Si dependes de camiones tienes que checar los horarios (ten en cuenta que estos pueblos no utilizan horario de verano como en la ciudad). Salen cinco camiones diarios desde la estación de autobuses de segunda clase de
Oaxaca a Cuajimoloyas. Para ir a Benito Juárez sólo salen camiones tres veces a la semana.
The Pueblos Mancomunados have an eco-tourism project called Expediciones Sierra Norte which offers tours, as well as information for independent exploration. Their office in Oaxaca is at Garcia Vigil 406 and their web site is (visit link) They produce an excellent map (which includes coordinates and contours). You should stop by even if you're just going for the day.

It's well worth spending a few days (or more) in this beautiful area full of friendly people and varied nature. All the villages have an information centre, and places to stay and eat.
Vale la pena pasar unos días (o más) en este lugar hermoso, lleno de gente amable y de naturaleza variada. Todos los pueblos tienen centros de información, lugares de hospedaje y alimentación.
