Geocache Description:

An unusual and quiet hill in South Lakeland and one that has a marvelous view. The summit provides a full panorama of the arc of hills, nearby limestone ridges, green valleys and down to the sea.

Lord's Lot is an area of open access land which sits at the top of the Lyth Valley between the villages of Underbarrow and Crosthwaite. It can be approached from either side via a footpath.

Coming from the west, the track is easily spotted. It is muddy at the beginning but soon becomes ok. Some navigation may be needed to get the footpath's line across the fields. The access land is soon reached at a small stream and the path then heads straight up the hill. Although the path is quite distinct, you will need to push through some areas of bracken at this time of year. Once near the top, turn off for the summit following small sheep-trods.

Coming from the east is a little harder with quite a steep pull up the first bit of footpath by the wood. The easiest route is to cross the stile from the track, but turn left. Follow alongside the wall and turn right at a holly tree onto a good track heading up. It rejoins the footpath at the top of the steep section. The footpath is ok but a little overgrown and a bit steeper. After the steep bit the paths are fine. At present there are cows with calves near Low Fold but room to avoid them.

There is a lot of beautiful heather flowering on the rocky knolls, together with a rich diversity of grasses and flowers. A rich bit of ecology - watch out for adders basking. Enjoy the views from the top.

Please re-hide the cache well and ensure the lid is on properly. Hope you enjoy your walk - we thought this was a great little hill and liked both routes up it.
