We have wanted to place a letterbox hybrid (we started out letterboxing) since we were given a GPSr. After visiting this area Friday (see link in the logs from 10/9) and being inspired by the mighty oak (N 42 54.000 W71 17.000) on the property, it was decided that this is the place.

Parking is at: N 42 53.793 W 71 17.216.
This cache is located at the Broadview Farm Conservation Area.
New container (as of 11/9/05 many thanks to CRL for the kind and generous donation) is an ammo box!
It is well hidden but close to the trail so beware of muggles.

Since this is a geocache/letterbox hybrid PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THE LETTERBOX STAMP OR INK PAD (they are not trade items). There are other small items like marbles and superballs to trade.

LOGBOOKS:
There is a logbook with lined pages for geocache logs. Geocachers please use that logbook.
There is a logbook with blank pages for letterbox logs. Letterboxers please use that logbook.
There are pencils but no sharpeners, so you may want to bring a pen.

There is another geocache Stocking Stuffer Cache GCM98T nearby, so plan on visiting both while in the area.

Find #746:

I believe this is my first letterbox hybrid find. I almost didn't find it though. Traversing the field, I knew I had my trusty headlight with me, but wondered if I would be able to find any paths that would cut down bushwhacking time. I did make one blunder of crossing a small depression (maybe 75 feet across) that was filled with water, but I managed to stay dry. Several yards later and I noticed a main path that I could have taken instead of going through the brush and cattails. At a second possible water crossing, I opted to look for alternatives to going straight through and this time found a convenient path that went all around the wet stuff. Eventually, I got to ground zero, but after looking for at least 20-minutes, in total darkness except of course for my headlight, I was ready to give it up for the night and return some other time. I was worn out for the day and the thought of going home to a warm, comfortable couch seemed awefully inviting. I lost the nearby trail for a moment and took a slightly different path than I would have otherwise, and was able to spot the container as a result. See, it's all part of my strategy : )

Came by today hoping to see some butterflies. Saw a couple but definately not what we were hoping for.

Imagine our surprise when we came to check on this cache and found it stuffed with TBs and geocoins. We took them all because this cache isn't visited that often and TBs like to move. As it turned out they had all been languishing. Trackables have always been fun for us and being able to get some back on track is a so rewarding.

Cache is in good shape and logbooks still have some room for more signatures.

Logging trackables through to get their travel logs corrected.

Took: lots of TBs & geocoins

Left: Corvette Racer TB.

Okay - caching with friends it the best - except when they show a decided lack of imagination....sure the old foundation we passed was for an old silo - but it COULD have been the fire pit for a giant, right? Great trail system...it was a beautiful hike. TNLNSL - TFTC

I would have loved to see this farm in its HayDay. I am always amazed at the number of places to hike my hometown. TFTC
