To earn your summer road trip souvenir for an event and for a T 5 rating, let's have a lunchtime meet and greet at the trailhead on Atsena Otie.
You must take a boat or kayak to get to this island! Bring your own, or rent one near the parking in Cedar Key. There is also at least one boat ferry service that will drop you off in the morning before their tour, and pick you up in the early afternoon after their tour. Fees are $15/adult $10/child under 12 years old. Facilities are limited on the island, so bring what you need :)
A hiking web site recommends lots of bug spray, and says to watch out for snakes. The trail itself is rated as "easy", but I'm sure it will be hot so bring plenty of water. Fishing may require a permit.
In case of rain we will meet near the parking coordinates for a less xtreme gathering :)
