New Zealand's longest running annual caching event is back.
Just the same as last year this is an Easter get together near Springs Junction (between ChCh, Nelson and the West Coast), to discuss and enjoy some geocaching. The difference is that this year the event is being run on ANZAC weekend, a couple of weeks after easter, in order to allow those who wish to to attend the Wagga Wagga Mega Event in Australia.
The cache co-ordinates are the same as the first co-ordinates for my "My Fault" multi cache.
This years its on the Saturday 24th April 2010, the day before ANZAC day. Start time is 12:00 noon (lunch and socialising) and 1:30pm (treasure hunt).
This cache location has been chosen because it is central for anyone traveling the northern end of the South Island for the Easter weekend or for the school holidays that also start on this date.
The main purpose is to catch up and swap geocaching stories, however, I've added in an Easter treasure hunt to keep things interesting. BYO picnic lunch.
This event will occur regardless of weather conditions - dress according to the conditions and take a spare set of clothes.
To participate in the treasure hunt (for easter eggs), you are required to set a treasure for someone else to find (using GPS co-ordinates) all treasures must be hidden before 1:00pm, with the co-ords written on a sheet of paper (a seperate sheet for each treasure).
At 1:30pm, we'll put all bits of paper with co-ordinates into a hat and cachers will draw a treasure for each participant to hunt. Please set a treasure for each member of your party (so that kids, adults, visitors all get a go). All treasures must be set in child friendly locations. They must also be within 2km of the co-ordinates for this cache.
Note that you don't have to participate in the easter treasure hunt to log this cache. It is Ok to just come along and socialise.
