There seems to be a preponderance of event caches this winter that are of the meet-and-greet or wine-and-dine variety. What’s wrong with winter outdoors!! Join fellow geocachers for this unique event cache – a winter nature hike.

DATE: Saturday, February 7, 2009 TIME: 10:00 AM Hike begins PLACE: Buttinger Nature Center of the Stony Brook-Milstone Watershed Association That's right, you're not in Kansas anymore! Join us for this hike on the Reserve of the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association. Hike out onto the Reserve with a naturalist, getting an insider’s view of winter. Bring binoculars or field guides if you wish as we explore forest and meadow. The hike will be followed by, just in time to spoil your lunch, some hot cider and apple cider donuts. To claim this cache you will have to join (and enjoy!) the nature hike which will be less than two miles. Hike will be adjusted for weather conditions. You will learn about winter ecology - meeting winter birds, searching for voles, looking for signs of foxes, admiring winter weeds, and much more. There are caches in the area which can be claimed before or after the event, both on the Reserve and in the neighboring countryside of Hopewell Township, Pennington, Hopewell, Blawenburg and more. New caches will be activitated immediately prior to this event. Please bring a newbie friend on the hike and share the joy! Trail prizes will be provided. Snowfall or snow cover will turn this event into a tracking adventure. Heavy snow or ice could cancel - check here on the morning of the event.
