The English River was originally launched in September 1961, a part of the Canadian General Electric Company and Canada Steamship Line fleet.
It became a part of the Canada Cement Lafarge fleet in 1992.
The boat is a seaway shuttle package freighter. The Boat is just over 404 feet in length and has a maximum load capacity of 7,450 tons. It is powered by a 8 cylinder, 1,850 horsepower diesel engine.
