Another part of the Geocache Trek, a 13 km hike from the parking lot to the cache (and 10 km back or bus), mainly downhill, mostly along creeks and ditches.
You can do it on your mountainbike, if you are a very skillful and experienced biker.
This cache is the northern annex to "Venn 1" and is part of the Geocache Trek. Since it is a very long way to walk (13 km from the Parking lot to the cache, and 10 km back), I recommend the following. Park your car at the train station in Aachen (Aachen Hbf), then take BUS SB63 to the stop "Roetgen Süd". From there it is about 1 km to the starting coordinates.
At the cache you will find the coordinates to the next bus stop, which will bring you back to your car.
Since this cache is not located in Belgium, you may do it on your mountain bike (recommended only if you are a very skilled biker) or take your dog with you.
All coordinates are within the N50° E6° grid, so I give you only the minutes (first N then E).
All codes are valid only at the station where they are obtained (except stated otherwise).
Along the walk there is no supply of water or food, no building (with a phone or water or help), and no public transport. The cellular net is extremely poor.
Off we go.
-------------------------------------------------------
TASK 1:
At the parking lot there is a big wooden sign cut like an arm showing the way to a park (***********park). Match the letters hidden by * with the numbers from 0 to 9. If a letter occurs that already bears a number, omit it.
Your next station is at WD.SDH / CW.SWI
Task 2:
Same procedure as at task 1 - find a wooden board bearing the name of a fruit or tree. Match the letters with the numbers from 0 to 9. If a letter occurs that already bears a number, omit it.
Your next station is at DE.DLW / IK.CDL
Task 3:
Count the big vertical metal bars (approx 5cm*5cm) of the railing of the newer bridge. The number is code #1.
Your next station is at 39.6(#1-6) / 14.2(2*#1+7)
Task 4:
Whimp or not? There is a wooden sign with four words on it. Count the letters of each word. Order the numbers from smallest to biggest and match them with A B C and D.
Your next station is at 39.(D*D*C-B) / 13.(D*D*B+C*C*A)
Regard * before + or - !
Task 5:
There is a metal sign at the brigde's railing, bearing two numbers. The upper one is ABCD, the lower one EFG. Subtract code #1 from each number, and you'll get HIJK and LMN.
Your next station is at LC.FMJ / FA.K(B+D)L
Task 6:
At this place there are two bridges (one is a bit down the creek ~50m). At the lower bridge there is a small building with a year number (code #2), from the upper one (which is the one you will walk over) you can see a starcase for fish. How many basins does this staircase have? This is code #3.
Your next station is at 4(code #2 + 7) / (#2*#3+5000)(I estimate you can slip the decimal point at the right place ;-) )
To reach the next station follow the path along the ditch until you on the same meridian. Go 0.084' further. Then go towards the next station. This is the nicest and most scenic way.
Task 7:
From the information board at the bee hive, you can get all information to reach the cache.
The cache is hidden at:
4 Nebenaugen . Widerhaken Königin Arbeiterin
1 Bürste . Arbeiterin Haftballen Höschen
If any number seems odd, subtract 10.
--------------------------------------------------------
The cache container is very small, there is no pencil in it. Please bring your own. It is dug into the earth about 10 cm deep and covered with dirt and leaves.
The content is just stuff and junk from Ü-eggs. Nothing spectacular. The biggest award should be the nature and the sports!
