Geocache Description:

A hidden away walkway, presumably the old road to the Mt Crawford Prison, with delightful views best enjoyed in the afternoon sunshine.

This cache is located on the Maupuia Walkway, an attractive short walk that meanders around the western hillside of the Miramar Penisula. This is a great walk to undertake on a sunny afternoon or to watch the sun go down. It is a great place to watch the planes come and go and spot the boats enjoying Evans Bay with tantalising little glimpses to the bays below.

At the Prison Road end of the walkway there is a connecting track that takes you down to Shelly Bay Road.

The Wellington Prison (also known as Mount Crawford) is located further on up the hill. It was built in 1927 and replaced the original Terrace Gaol in Central Wellington. It can accommodate up to 140 male prisoners.

The cache is a small black cylindrical container. Please make sure it is wedged back firmly in place.
