As I was hiking on this trail to place this cache, I was in a
quandary as to what to name the cache. Most of my names are either
derived from the container, or perhaps the experience involved. I
wasn't sure how this one was going to work out, so I just hiked.
Then a saw a lizard.
Actually, I saw a lot of lizards. Most of them were sunning
themselves in the middle of the trail and would scurry off to the
side of the trail as I approached. One particular lizard hurried to
the side, realizing that I was a possible threat, but then thought
better of it, turned around, chomped down on a small insect, ate
it, then continued to get out of my way.
Hey. It had its
priorities.
Then it dawned on me. There hasn't been a single time when I've
hiked this trail when I haven't seen some kind of animal, usually
lizards on the ground and hawks riding the thermals in the canyons,
but also an occasional deer, a snake or two, and lots of ground
squirrels. The mountain lion (or maybe it was a bobcat) pawprint,
was another highlight from a previous hike. The point is, when you
log this cache, tell us what you saw on your trip up there. It
doesn't have to be an animal, although it would be extremely rare
not to see any animals on this almost 2 mile hike. It can be
plants, as there are a variety of different flora on this hike as
well. Just tell us what you saw while hiking up here.
Remember that you're in a wilderness area. Be on the lookout for
snakes and possibly big cats. Carry enough water, especially in the
summer months as it gets hot up on the hill.
Today, I saw a lizard. What did you see?
Congratulations to Biker guy for the First to Find.
