Troop 1620 of Plymouth,
Ma. placed this cache on a cloudy Sunday afternoon; Mothers'Day
2005. We just finished 2 nights of camping; hiking and spelunking
in the pouring rain in Upton, Ma.
Cache is located within Purgatory Chasm State Reservation. A unique
natural landmark, Purgatory Chasm runs for a quarter of a mile
between granite walls rising as high as 70 feet. Popular with
picnickers and rock-climbers alike, the Chasm is believed to have
its origin in the sudden release of dammed-up glacial meltwater
near the end of the last Ice Age, approximately 14,000 years ago.
Trails lead to a wide variety of rock formations, with such
romantic names as The Corn Crib, The Devil's Coffin, The Devil's
Pulpit, Lovers' Leap and Fat Man's Misery. Make your way through
Purgatory to Salvation Look for a 2 qt. round plastic screwtop
container with a teal top. Cache initially contained a number of
small trinquets; old concert ticket, collectable rock; at least 2
BSA Patches!
