Key's Battery Fort Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

rebelfirefighter: I visited the cache during the battle reenactment this past weekend. Sometime recently the Tree that the cache was hid in was destroyed and the cache was destroyed along with it. This makes me mad that someone would be this careless. This was a really great cache and I appologise for any travel bugs that were lost. All I was able to fing was a piece of the lid that went to the cache container. I hope to one day replace this cache but I'm not sure when.

Geocache Description:

Historic Cache in Tunnel Hill, Ga

This cache is placed in the area of the original Key's Battery Fort. It was an artillery position used during the Civil War in atleast one of the 5 to 7 battles fought in Tunnel Hill, Georgia. It has been reconstructed and is used by reenactors during the annual Civil War Reenactment in September. This is a very historical area so be sure and look around at the historic homes and old tunnel. Also stop by the new Heritage Center. To access this cache stay on the paved road. There is NO need to take the dirt road that goes across the Clisby Austin Plantation. The best way to access it is from the Historic Tunnel Hill Cache. Go up the mountain and hang a right then just follow the road and it'll put you right to it.
