This cache has been placed along the route of the historic and scenic Red Cedar State Trail.

It has been written that when the wealth of the land was lumber, the Red Cedar River was one of the great water highways that carried logs to a growing nation. This 14.5-mile biking and hiking trail follows the banks of the river on an old rail road bed from Menomonie through the historic lumber town of Downsville, to the great Chippewa River Valley where it connects with the Chippewa River State Trail in the Dunnville Wildlife Area. The trail is packed limestone and a series of ten bridges which pass through a panorama of woodlands, prairies and soaring sandstone cliffs. Wildlife abounds, including deer, wild turkey, red fox, an abundance of song birds and the majestic Bald Eagle.

It is expected that all geocachers visiting the area observe all the user rules. These rules include, but are not limited to, bike riders trail fee, dogs allowed on an 8' long, max., leash and access time of 6 am to 11 pm daily.

Note: Wisconsin Geocache Placement Notification form #2500-118 ® 6/06) has been submitted to James Janowak, Area Manager, Red Cedar State Trail. (715)232-1242

PLEASE NOTE: The Area Manager has requested the cache container be temporarily removed during the cross country ski season, December 15th through March 15th.

The cache will hold a few small trading items along with the log and pencil. Please replace it exactly as you find it and be mindful of the muggles as they are everywhere.

Took a nice bike ride from Irvington to this site. Nice ride - unfortunately we were shut out. We gave it a good try - looked up and down all around the site. Fortunately it was cold to help keep the muggles from interrupting us.

No joy on this one. Believe we've scoured the area pretty good. Either it's really well hidden or it's gone--probably just us!

We looked for this one about 15 minutes, but couldn't find it.
Also, a note for anyone coming here, make sure you don't stay in automotive mode in your GPS to the very end because it will take you to someone's driveway, and if you park there, its a looong walk around past where you should have parked, and then doubling back up the path to the GZ.
