Incoming Transatlantic Flights Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Sir PhilPamAndRob: I've been and checked tonight and the cache has disappeared. As its raely hit its being archived rather tahn replaced.

So what was it.....

ITF stand sor "Interleaved Two of Five", a barcode format used to encode digits. Reading horizontally gave the vest co-ords and vertically gave the northerleys. Its quite an easy barcode format to decode manually.

Thats useful, because attached to the cache was another ITYF barcode, and when decoded, that gave the combination for the lock that kept the cache closed!

Thanks to everyone who has visited this, and those who cracked the code but didn't visit - PhilPamandRob

Geocache Description:

On a summer’s morning with a clear blue sky, it’s surprising how many vapour trails criss-cross the sky overhead. From our garden we’ve counted up to thirty at once. These are Incoming Transatlantic Flights (ITFs) that left the US and Canada the previous evening.

Surprisingly only about 2 of 5 ITF vapour trails are straight, the rest change direction when overhead. This is because the planes are passing over what is known locally as the Wallasey Beacon. The listed co-ordinates are of this navigation beacon.

The cache is obviously not at these co-ordinates. To find the cache, solve the puzzle below, as it contains the required information. You can work it out with pen, paper and a bit of googling, and it’s worth while doing this, as you never know when this technique may be required.

Good Luck
