In the Lenoir Nature Preserve in Northern Yonkers. The most likely muggles are deer and squirrels. The third cache in a series placed near USGS Benchmarks in Westchester County.
This cache commemorates benchmark KU4104, which in 1921 was identified as the tip of the northeast turret of the Max Nathan House. The house is long gone and with it the benchmark. Take a few minutes to hike around the area and you'll find foundations, bricks, black tiles, and rusted pipes that dive into the ground. You may also see white tail deer and wild turkeys. The preserve is a favorite among birdwatchers, too. Park at the nature center http://www.westchestergov.com/Parks/NatureCenters05/LenoirPreserve.htm and follow the trail to the east of the parking lot. Note that the trails are open from dawn to dusk. The cache is about 150 feet off of this trail. It's an easy walk in spring before the undergrowth blooms, maybe harder in summer and fall. The site of KU4104 is near the top of the slight hill. You'll find a grassy clearing and small bench there should you need a rest. The cache is a four by 6 (ish) snap lock container covered in black. There are a CD and a four-pack of AA batteries for the first finder, plus two travel bugs and the requisite log book.
