Coventry suffered heavy bombing in the Second World War. The cathedral was hit by a number of incenjury devices and burnt to the ground. Rather than rebuild to the same design, an impressive new modern cathedral was built on an adjoining plot, and the ruins of the old cathedral preserved. The mission of the cathedral is now centred on Peace and Reconciliation. More recently, the ruins of an even older cathedral were unearthed nearby with the help of Time Team and now house a visitors centre. The city centre too was rebuilt in the 1950s but was looking tired and dated by the end of the century. In recent years much effort has been put in to redeveloping the city centre. The cache, a 0.6 litre plastic food container, is hidden in an area recently redeveloped and much improved. I hope you enjoy your visit. It is NOT hidden in the cathedral grounds nor is it buried. You may however need to be discrete in retrieving it!
