Short walk along the Butler-Montville Trail in an area that is
largely only known to paryting teens and fishermen.
The cache name is derived from local history. The town of Kinnelon
was named after the estate of tobacco magnate, Francis Kinney. His
Sweet Caporal cigarettes were a popular brand in the early part of
the 20th century. Kinney's 5,000 acre estate occupied much of what
is now the Smoke Rise section of the town. Many of his estate's
buildings are still in use today. Kinney's son, Warren, was the
first mayor of Kinnelon when it was incorporated in the 1920's
The cache can be accessed from Fayson Lakes Rd, or Miller Rd.
