Geocache Description:

"Happy is the man that findeth wisdom… Prov. 3:13"

Wisdom, by definition, is the proper application of knowledge. It is the ability to utilize facts in a practical and profitable fashion.

Come and share your Wisdom with Scouts and Scouters of the Gray Owl District of the Circle 10 Council at the Spring Cache-O-ree.

Volunteers are needed to help run a Round Robin Session of Mini Clinics in the morning from 9:00 to 12:00 Noon.

GPS 101: The basics of how to operate a GPS unit, how to use the GOTO or Find functions, and how to enter new sets of coordinates for offset or multi-caches.

GeoCaching 101: Strategies for a successful hunt. When to stop looking at the GPS and start looking for the cache. How to think like a Geocacher

Leave no Trace: Learn about the Cachers Creed and how it goes hand in hand with the Leave no Trace policies we follow in Scouting.

Then after lunch what will amount to a Mini Texas Challenge will take place from 2:00 until 5:00. Here the opportunity to help out will come in the form of being a Geo-Guide. This will amount to cachers either being teamed up with Scouting groups to answer questions and help with the operation of the GPS units during the meet or being stationed at various points throughout the camp to act as a help station for those that wish to try to DO their Best with out an assigned Guide.

We also need GPS units for the Scouts to use. We have about 25 now but may need up to 20 more units so dust off those back-up units that you have hung onto when you upgraded to the latest and greatest that Garmin or Magellan has to offer and bring them on down. We will provide the batteries for units loaned for the event.

If you can't make it to the event there is still opportunity to help make this great day for Geocaching and Scouting. There will be 2 work weekends leading up to the event where I will need assistance in hiding the caches and checking the course for accuracy. Saturday March 31st and Saturday April 7th. Both days will start at 10:00 and last until dusk.

Camp Wisdom was first used as a Scout Camp in 1923 and is the oldest existing camp in Texas. It is no longer used as a summer camp, but is now used as a weekend camp for Troops in the Dallas area. It has also become a Cub Scout Camp with many exciting new facilities such as a fort, two pirate ships, a castle, large Cub World activity building, an Indian village and other structures for use by Cub Scout Packs and Dens. The camp now has more people use the facility in a year than the other three camps of the Circle Ten Council combined.
