Another cache in the Face the Music series. The cache is not at the posted coordinates. Solve the puzzle to find the cache.
Solving the puzzle: Are you a fan of 80s music? Do you still wear leg warmers, turn the collar up on your alligator polo, or tease your hair up until you look like Mike Score? Then you might remember some of these videos that are Livin' in Oblivion. If you don't have them in your BetaMax collection, You’ll need to track down the videos at their various homes across the magical Internet. Watch them to find the trivia you need, then do the math.

Aha - Take on Me | A groundbreaking video that’s still fun to watch today. Even more fun is checking out the “Literal Video” spoof if you can track it down—well worth the diversion. At one point a 2-digit number XX shows up behind the drummer. For some reason the number is backwards. At another point, 2 pipe-wrench-wielding thugs chase the characters (resplendent in their textbook 80s fashion) through a hall. One thug has the number XX on his helmet , the other has X.
Icicle Works - Whisper to a Scream | Ah, the early, low-budget days of music videos. Band + leaves + blower + Camcorder = Solid Gold! At one point a large leaf gets magically stuck to the head of Ian McNabb’s guitar. What color is the leaf? The number of letters = X.
The Other Ones – Holiday | One of the top 80’s songs in our book. Listen to it and just try not to be happy. While you’re watching this quirky video, notice how many triangles the sandwich is cut into. That number = X.
Big Country – In a Big Country | Go ahead, yell it out loud…SHAH! Does the video match the lyrics? No. But with these lyrics, how could it? The lower left number on the tide chart (2 digits only) = XX.
Tears for Fears – Everybody Wants to Rule the World | Le’ssee…we need a rhyming name for our band and Ace of Base is already taken, so… You’ll need to stop admiring the classic roadster in this video long enough to notice that Roland Orzabal turns onto Interstate XX. Later he dials three numbers on a phone—let them equal the three-digit number XXX. Notice the price of gas? Take the most expensive price, drop the dot and let that price equal XXX.

West Coordinates
Nena - 99 Luftbalons | This song (along with Peter Schilling’s Major Tom) helped make German-language pop songs cool for 15 minutes in the 80s. In this anti-war song (like anyone is really FOR war), when Nena is walking through the field, the first number that appears on a small sign is X. After the first explosion, there are X balloon(s) on the screen. During the explosion scenes, X balloon(s) float away, and at the end of the video, another X balloon(s) float away.
Georgia Satellites – Keep Your Hands to Yourself | Do you got a little change in your pocket goin’ jing a ling a lang? Notice the personalized license plate on the truck? There are X letters in the name on it. How about when the bed of the truck is shown and there are words painted in it? The number of letters = XX.
Wall of Voodoo – Mexican Radio | Ever wish you were in Tijuana eating barbequed iguana? Then you might be a fan of this song. There’s a partial telephone number in the video; that number = XXXX.
Men at Work – Land Down Under | While we’re on the topic of food, how about a Vegamite sandwich? At the beginning of the video, the drummer is playing on X bottle(s), X of which falls to the ground. Later, the Man from Brussels pours beer into X glasses.
Men Without Hats – Safety Dance | Widely thought to be a war protest song due to the images of bombs, the song was actually a more benign protest against the practice of nightclub bouncers prohibiting dancers from ‘pogoing’ (look it up). This is another good video to watch as a Literal Video, but you’ll need to watch the actual video to see that there are X puppet(s) that appear in two different scenes, as well as X images of bombs (including the one attached to the bomber plane).
