Ozarkxtreme, Ozark Sweetheart, Twister97, Resurrectionj, DNK Leimbach, McClippy & LoClippy are floating the Courtois River and want you to join them ...

Alot of people have asked us if we were going to do another float and we have been talking and thinking about it for some time now....

Thanks to Major134 we are coming back....

2015 Floating the Courtois River Part 2

We will be grabbing all the NEW caches!!!!!

So show up about 8:30 and make sure you eat a healthy breakfast before hand, this float can wear you out..... visit, chit chat, group picture (we know we love these) and wish us well on our adventure. We will be setting sail around 9:00 give or take.

Everyone is welcome to float the Courtois River with us, but if you want to just come and say HI that would be great too and really all that is required. But if you don't go on the float we dont want to hear any griping or crying later.. "There is no crying in Geocaching". Each person will need to bring or rent a canoe (or kayak) there will be some available to rent at the event. Make arrangements with them soon so you have a boat. If you bring your own boat you know you will have to arrange to get it back to your car.

If you don't want to get up early, come and camp with us! We will be staying at the Bass Resort nearby. It is not free to camp there but if interested that is where we will be. IF you are camping you can just walk over to the creek for the event, its not that far.

The river is narrow and you can see the bottom of the river at all times.  This is a 5 plus hour trip so join us for a Great Adventure, this is one weekend you will not want to miss...camping, kayaking, caching, friends.....what more can you ask for.......oh yah a weekend full of laughs.....we got that covered too......

The part of the creek on which we will be floating has a number of caches with high terrain ratings. These caches have difficulty ratings ranging from 1 to 5. The terrain rating on these caches is primarily due to the remoteness of the caches, the requirement to use special equipment (i.e. a canoe or kayak) to reach the caches, and the specific placement of some of the caches. The hope for this event is that anyone who wants to geocache will have an opportunity to find the caches along the creek with a group of people.......

What To Bring •A sack lunch, cooler, and drinks. Glass bottles are not allowed on the river. •Bug spray, sunglasses, and a hat. •Suitable river attire. •Shoes or boots that can get wet and muddy. •A waterproof bag to hold your electronics and other equipment and clothing that should be kept dry •A change of clothes including a pair of long pants to wear while walk/hiking outside the creek. The long pants will help you avoid any stinging nettles and poison ivy. The extra clothes may be helpful if you get wet.

This event will take place in the middle of September so you need to be prepared for any type of weather......

Each float trip is limited to 15..So depending on "will attends" there might need to be 2 trips made...So if you are able to attend please post a "will attend" where we can keep a # on how many are interested, Thank you!!

If you have any questions please fill free to contact any one of us.....

We want to emphasis that you DO NOT have to do the float or camp to attend the event.......that is optional......but alot more fun if you do.....

IF YOU BRING YOUR OWN BOAT this is information that you probably already know but here is more detailed info you will need. The put in is at the posted coords Butts road and the river and the take out will be at Scotia which is at the intersection of Hwy E and the Huzzah conservation parking is on the right side of the river just before the low water bridge. You will need to put a car there. When everyone else exits to the left you will need to exit on the right where the conservation parking lot is. Otherwise you will have to carry your canoe back across the bridge to the parking area.

So please come join us whether it's your 1st trip or 2nd you won't regret it.

The Courtois River offers some of the greating floating!!
