Geocache Description:

This letterbox hybrid is located in Carkeek Park. The closest parking to the cache can be found at the Eddie McAbee entrance on NW 100th Place and 6th Avenue NW at the coordinates listed above, although the cache is accessible from any of Carkeek's parking areas.

Carkeek Park is home to over six miles of maintained trails, beach access, a children's playground, and several currently active geocaches. Since this is a letterbox hide, cachers will need to follow the letterboxing clues to discover the letterbox hybrid.

This letterbox contains a logbook with a rubber ink stamp and a pen, along with trade items for traditional geocachers. The rubber stamp is NOT a trade item: it must remain in the bag with the logbook. Letterboxers must bring along their own inkpad. In the tradition of letterboxing, you place your own stamp (and/or your signature and date) into the cache's logbook, and then stamp the letterbox's stamp into your own personal letterboxing logbook.

Park at the coordinates listed above. Proceed down the Piper's Creek Trail for approximately 2/10 of a mile. At this point in the hike, there is the opportunity to make an abrupt U-turn to the right onto the unmarked Viewlands Trail. Turn here and begin walking up the steps.

Walk approximately 50-60 steps up to the top of the stairway until there are no more steps or landings at all. (The number of steps depends on whether or not you count the landings as steps, too.) After you have run out of steps, proceed straight ahead past three moss-covered trees.

You'll soon spy a fallen tree and just beyond the tree, there will be two cut logs nestled next to each other. These will all be on your right-hand side as you walk up the trail. The letterbox hybrid cache is tucked in between those two cut logs.

The logbook can be signed by hand or stamped with your own letterbox stamp. There is also a stamp inside of the cache for those who would like to stamp your own letterbox journals. Please leave the stamp with the cache since it is not a trade item but is part of the cache hide.
