Geocache Description:

Relatively short hike (about 3-4 miles RT, 900 feet elevation gain) up Cedar Butte to a view.

The benchmark up on top says "Ceder Butt". The first part of the hike is an easy stroll up the Iron Horse trail, but the rest of the way is a bit steep in spots. Park at the Rattlesnake Lake Recreational Area or at the State Park Parking Area (both are now free, pay attention to closing hours).

Here is a link that has a great description of the trail. I highly suggest taking the longer "Boxley Blowout" route.

The cache is reachable from one of the trails up on top, so please please please don't go tromping on the vegetation, it's not necessary. I put a couple of traveling geocoins in the cache to start it off, these are not for keeping, and I would ask the FTF party to only take one of the coins. Thanks! FTF will earn a $10 gift card from REI once they log one of the two geo-coin TBs.

Congrats to Cruiser Guy, who was FTF on 3/26/05 and to Criminal, evergreenhiker! and cache ahead, who were right behind!
