Loves Labour Lost Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

muchado: This cache has reached its fourth birthday and it has come time to retire it. I think this was one of my favorite "surprises" of my caches finding an aquaduct out in the middle of the woods. Thanks to all those who visited.

Geocache Description:

A classic multi. Two waypoints - one brings you to a nice spot and the other to the beginning of an interesting trail to the final. A 2+ mile round trip with some bushwhacking to the final.

This cache is inspired by Shakespeare's comedy Love's Labour Lost. I had sworn off putting a cache at the Uncanoonucs since there were so many. But then I found something beautiful and decided that swearing off Uncanoonuc was silly. A synopsis of the play as well as the full text can be found here. There is an interesting modern update of the story in a film adaptation of the play directed by Kenneth Branagh.

"Assist me some extemporal god of rime, for I am sure I shall turn sonneter. Devise, wit; write, pen; for I am for whole volumes in folio."
(Act I, Scene II)

Like all my other Shakespeare caches, you do not have to read the play to find the cache.

The Area

You may have driven to the top of this mountain to find some caches. You may have started at the base and climbed all the way to the top to find a cache. Now you can start at the base and stay at the base to find this cache. Not much climbing, but a little more than two miles of walking round trip. The coordinates above bring you to a beautiful spot, so don't miss it. From there, you'll see why this water is here as you make your way to the next waypoint. The cache finishes up with a hike along an old aqueduct built into the side of a hill.

You can read some history about this area here.

I hope you enjoy the area.

The Cache

  • This cache is made up of two waypoints and a final.
  • The cache page coordinates will bring you to the first waypoint. At the first waypoint you are looking for a small laminated card that has the coordinates for the second waypoint.
  • At the second waypoint, you are looking for a camo'd tube about 3.5" long and 1" diameter. Inside, you'll find a laminated card with the coordinates of the final and a suggested route to follow. You should not have to move anything to find the container. I found this route very interesting, but it does involve a fair amount moderate bushwhacking.
  • The final should be very easy for a cacher to spot. Please re-hide so a muggle won't spot it.

Please Note

  • The beach area is restricted to Goffstown residents, but the trails are open to all.
  • The parking and beach area is closed from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM - no night caching please.
  • The cache is a large lock & lock with room for larger swag.
  • This cache was released at at Bread & Roses 6 (GC15JKW).
