Geocache Description:

This is the first in a new series of caches which involve walking some distance from parking. Therefore, I am naming these caches after military retreats, withdrawals and mass movements of people.

The cache title refers to the documentary written by Xenophon about the exploits of himself and the Ten Thousand. Cyrus the Younger decided to revolt against his brother, Emperor Ataxerxes II of Persia. He ordered some mercenaries and his order was filled by ten thousand Greeks. The battle of Cunaxa was fought, and although the Greeks gave a good account of themselves, Cyrus was killed. This left the Greeks without an employer, and Ataxerxes with a hostile force in his empire. Ataxerxes decided to resolve the issue by inviting the Greek leaders to dinner, where he had them killed. He probably thought that this would cause the Greeks to dissolve into a rabble, because he was apparently used to dealing with slob peasant levies of little fighting ability. The Greeks, however, were experienced, elite soldiers, and the second tier of leaders assumed effective command over the force. The unit retained its cohesion and marched back to Greece, across what is now Iran, Iraq and Turkey.

You will not have to walk that far to the cache. However, it is guarded by a type of plant with which I have become associated.

The container looks like Tupperware, painted to blend in. It contains a log and pen.

Because my coordinates are not as good as I like, I am providing a hint.

Please replace as found, muggles rove the area.
