Geocache Description:

You are looking for an orange pill bottle sized container with a white cap hidden on a small peninsula of Land Between the Lakes' Shaw Bay. Bottle contains log only, so BYOP. You can even drive right up to the cache location and park

!?!BE PREPARED!?!

Between 1972 and 1983, the area surrounding the cache was home to the Land Between the Lakes Gateway National High Adventure Base. Here the Tennessee Valley Authority and the Boy Scouts of America together provided an outstanding high-adventure opportunity. Scouts could go camping, backpacking, canoeing, sailing, and pontoon boating. The swimming in Shaw Bay was good. So was the fishing. If you explore the area, you'll see remnants of camping platforms and a couple of fishing ponds.

The Boy Scout motto is BE PREPARED. The motto of the knights of old was “Be always ready". A scout is a modern knight, who keeps himself strong, who learns how to meet problems, who never lets himself be taken by surprise. As the founder of Scouting Baden-Powell said when asked, “Be prepared for what?”, he simply replied “Why for anything!”

When a scout and a Geocacher goes outdoors, he/she should always BE PREPARED. The basic equipment that a Geocacher carries into the outdoors is very similar to that of a Boy Scout. Below is a list of items both should BRING:

On the penisula, you can see a light pole, a rusty storage container, and the remnants of a dock. When you get to the location, use your geo-skills and geo-equipment to retrieve the container from its hiding spot. So that the adventure can continue, please re-hide as found and do not destroy or change the hiding spot in any way. Thank you, keep on caching, and BE PREPARED for anything!
