MMT#8 The Caponier Multi-cache

MMT#8 Open air museum


This is a two step multi where the first cache (6*3 cm micro) is
placed at the start of the Caponier street (Kaponjärgatan) and the
location of the second step (medium size) is given by information in the first step
It is as well a good exercise as it is 194 steps to climb , so sit down on the top and enjoy the view before you continue
Watch out for mugglers!

The Caponier was a protection wall with an underground passage between the fortified city and the fortifications on this hill. See picture above.

This hill was very important during the 17th century for
observation and protection against troop movements as the border to
Denmark was just 13 Km to the south by Flabäcken in Kållered.

Walk around on the top of the hill and enjoy the view and try to get a

picture of yourself with the crown on your head! Try to stand close to the guns

Risåsberget, egentligen Ryssåsen

Åren 1639-1641 anlades en förskansning med jordvallar på platsen,
Ryssåsens skans eller Juteskrämman med en del murverk, samt ett
batteri som lades på bergets högsta topp

Mellan skansen och huvudfästningen - staden inom vallgraven, gick
en kaponjär, en underjordisk förbindelsegång med försvarsverk och vattengrav på
båda sidor.

Den stod färdig 1692, och förband då Skansen
Kronan och bastionen Christina Regina,

1667 började man bygga Skansen Kronan som består av ett åttkantigt
torn där varannan sida är smalare än de andra. Murarna av gråsten
är sju meter tjocka. Den första våningen var avsedd fö;r kanoner och
den andra för hand eldvapen.
