M.W. #6 Silvan Dam. An Iconic Walk in the Park Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ngaambul: As there's been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, or it's been a number of months since the last owner note. I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 30 days), just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it. Should you replace the cache after 30 days has passed please create a new cache listing so it can be reviewed as a new cache.

Geocache Description:

The 6th cache in the Melbourne Water series brings you to Silvan Dam park. Park information is available on the Silvan Dam - Parks Victoria Website

Constructed in the early part of last century by the M.M.B.W. Silvan Dam forms one of Melbourne's water storages. It also has a great park to check out with all the family. As stated in the attribute icons the park is closed at night and thus the cache will be unavailable then. Current closing times are 5 PM in winter & 7:30PM in summer. Dogs must be kept on a short lead at all times. Parrots, ducks & kookaburras frequent the park and are best viewed at low muggle times.

You will need to bring the following:
This cache information
A 5 cent coin or similar item (you use it not spend it)
Reading glasses & hearing aid if required. Device sound is small to avoid muggle attention
Plastic bag if it's raining - A4 paper size is ideal

At the posted location you will find the device carefully hidden with an instruction sheet. The device is not water proof and should be used in a plastic bag if it's raining.
The following information should be used with the instructions to proceed with the cache. The device is not hidden in the concreet item.

Throughout the state there are light orange flowers with black and white spots. Take the device and inspect the spots closely from a distance of about 5mm or ¼ of an inch taking care not to touch them. When you find the spot look nearby (less than 1 meter) for the telephone number that will lead you to GZ.

At no time should you climb fences, interfere with survey markers or undertake caching activities within 20 meters of a toilet block.
All parts of the cache are in/on "man made" items so as to minimize disturbance to gardens etc.
If your more than 5 min at WP1, 25 min finding WP2 or 10 min at WP3 take a clue. Note the WP number when using clues
Be on the lookout for muggles as there can be many. Early is the best time to avoid them. Please fully replace all caches after use

S37°49.___ E145°24.___ is were the final cache is. Your looking for an average lunch box sized cache. You will probebly have to use your left hand to get it.

Cache modification history
12/05 A new device testing station (hands on device operation school) is now on site. Information about this is at WP1. This has been set up due to many people thinking the device has failed but as yet it has always been working perfectly when checked by Geof.
The posted coords for this cache will/were be changed on 25/10/09 following the relocation of the first waypoint due to a change in park boundaries.
