Elephant Mountain stands over Nicasio Lake.
I have often thought about placing a tribute cache in this area in honor of the Youngbloods' Elephant Mountain. The album is a Marin classic, first released in 1969 but still nice today. So here I was driving by with a cache container, some items to place inside, and a travel bug with an elephant theme. What was there to do except to stop by the side of the road and leave it here for you to find.
There is nothing special about this cache. It should not matter since the area offers a view of what is officially called "Black Mountain" and the lake. There is lots of Sunlight on most days, no Quicksand in the area and neither the Darkness, the Rain, or the weeds leading up to the cache should get you down.
Park on the lake side of the road - and as usual please leave the container so it is not readily seen if a casual visitor comes up this way,
