This cache is part of a series of caches reflecting Oconto County History. Please respect the delicate nature of the surroundings, being careful not to damage vegetation and items that may be of historical significance. Reports of such nature will result in the archiving of these caches..
This multi-cache/field solve puzzle has five easy stages, but requires you to do some math to acquire the final coordinates. There are no containers at the first four waypoints which will take you on a short tour of history in the Oconto area. These four sites are drive-up if traffic is light. You may not even need to get out of your vehicle. Pictures of each are in the gallery. You'll also see many of the historic homes built by the lumber barons of the 1800's along the route. The final coordinates to It’s For The Birds cache are: N44 AB.CD7 and W087 EF.GH2 You'll need to fill in the letters with numbers you discover on signs/plaques at the first four sites.
The cache is hidden in plain sight and can be reached on a short walk down a path on one of the dikes that crisscross the Oconto Marsh. No bushwacking, wading, or swimming is involved. Remember, it's only a T1.5. The cache is small but can hold some trade items, travel bugs, and geocoins that are no larger than 2 inches in diameter. Items that were initially placed in the cache included: some Silly Putty, a golf ball, a key chain, a carabiner, a Wiley Coyote “peace” necklace, the Baco Bug travel bug, and a two dollar bill for the "First to Find"....congratulations to jtkl on the FTF.
