The cache called KNOB is along the blue blazed Long Path on
Schunemunk Mountain. "HEH HEH HEH, Knob!"
A typical ammo can hide just 20 or so feet off the trail. The hard
part will be the elevation change of 1200 feet in less than 1 mile.
That's even with some flat parts. Due to the close proximity to the
trail, please be sure to rehide this cache well. After your
find, continue northwest along the trail to the flap pole for
another view towards the east. It's well worth it. Or if you're
really in a hiking mood continue another one and a half miles to
the summit. To start your journey, I found parking right next to
the long path trail head at the end of a driveway off Rt. 32 in
Woodbury. I asked permission and they said it was fine as long as I
was off to the side. There is room there for two cars at the most.
There is more road side parking off 32 on the other side of the
underpass just south of the trail head. Looking for more
information on this hike. Check out brian b's archived
"Shunnemunk's High Knob"cache. It was active from 2003-05 but was
archived when NY State Parks took over this land.
