Geocache Description:

Greetings and welcome to the FDR Presidential Suite TB Hotel.

This Travel Bug Hotel is opening its doors just in time for Independence Day 2007. It is located just off of Route 9 in historic Hyde Park, NY. It is open to all visitors, travel bugs and geocoins alike. This area is beautiful and has several tourist attractions including the President Franklin Delano Roosevelt home, museum and library, the Vanderbuilt Mansion historical site, and the Culinary Institute of America.

The cache itself is located on the Hyde Park Heritage Trail that runs between the FDR home on Rte. 9 to the Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site on Rte. 9G. The land that the cache is on is still owned by Scenic Hudson and is NOT federal land. I have been assured of this by the National Parks Service. The trail is well marked and has been widened during the recent improvements. This hotel is a VERY short distance from Rte. 9 and you can park within about 150' from it in the nearby brew pub parking lot and the cache itself can be reached while standing on the trail. The trails are open from sunrise to sunset. Please keep the hotel staff busy with trades. Valet parking not available.

I’d like to see a lot of trades going on here. That’s why it is so accessible and is pretty much a park and grab. Trades should be done ONE FOR ONE for travel bugs or geocoins. Small items such as pins and signature tokens may be left also, but please try to keep this a true TB Hotel. Please read the tags on the trackables if they have any and try to help them on their missions. Be careful when finding and replacing the cache as this trail is well used and you can see the parking lot from the cache. There is some bounce in the are so take note that the CACHE IS WITHIN 2 FEET OF THE TRAIL. Do not trespass and do not cross over the rock wall. The cache is NOT IN THE ROCK WALL. Some of the rock walls in this area date back to before the American Revolution, so please do not disturb them. Please take note of the cache cover and replace it as you find it or better. You’ll understand when you see where it is. Cache is a cammoed 30cal. Ammo Can. There is a camera in the cache. Please take a photo of yourself with your trades and return it to the cache. Pictures will be loaded onto the site after the camera is full.

If you have some time for a nice walk through the woods this area will not disappoint. Be sure to bring plenty of bug repellant as there are lots of mosquitos seasonally. Enjoy the trails and this historic area.

Original contents of the Hotel include 3 Jeep TB's (White, Green, Red) Team GPatrick TB, and 3 of my own Geocoins and an engraved non-trackable FTF coin for the first finder.
